Montmorency Falls

This park is located just 16 minutes away from Old Quebec. This 275 ft falls are 99ft taller than Niagara Falls. The water plunged into the St. Laurence river. At this park, you can go up to the top of the falls by cable car, walk up the stairs or park your car at a different entrance (this one could be free). We parked at the tourist parking lot at the bottom of the falls and we have to pay C$12.50.

To save some $$$ we skip the cable car and go for a walk. The first part of walking is a breeze but walking up the 487-step staircase can be challenging especially for unfit people. (Remember you need to use the same path to go back to where you park).

Walking under the falls with lots of mist hitting us is a fun experience. It cools us off from the summer heat. If you got wet from it, don’t worry, it will dry fast. You can avoid walking too close to the falls and get wet by using the staircase on a different side.

The view of the falls from the tops is amazing. At the top, you can walk across the suspension bridge over the falls for free. You can also do zip line here.

Tip of the day

Don’t forget to bring a bottle of water. You’ll appreciate it when you reach the top of the falls. It cost C$2.50/bottle if you buy from the vending machine.

Bring a raincoat if you don’t like to get wet but want to experience being close to the falls.
